Peer Review Week 2019

Despite last week’s focus on the upcoming #ClimateStrike, it was also Peer Review Week. This year’s theme was all about Quality in Peer Review.

Since this event was excellent covered by The Official PLOS Blog, I will repost their wrap-up of the week below. The content should be of great value to any ECR out there, especially the PLOS Peer Review Toolbox.

#PeerRevWk19 was full of fruitful conversations about quality from many organizations. We are grateful for being part of this engaged community. Below is a sampling of what we added to the conversations this week.

On Monday PLOS joined F1000, ORCID, and Clarivate Analytics/Publons for a webinar on the power and importance of acknowledging reviewers through ORCID. Watch the recording.

For Tuesday PLOS ONE’s EveryONE blog discussed interdisciplinary peer review and the role that it plays in a high-quality research assessment, while over on Twitter followers responded to a poll on peer review.

Wednesday saw a Special Issue of the PLOS Peer Review Toolbox, all about supporting quality in peer review. Subscribe to future issues here.

Meanwhile, the Official PLOS Blog discussed quality, credit and transparency–and shared some examples of the new published peer review history packages on PLOS ONE and PLOS Biology.

Then on Thursday we shared our experiences implementing ORCID for reviewers with a guest post on the ORCID blog.

Friday…All you got was this wrap-up. Lol. We weren’t in the office due to #ClimateStrike.
