We are pleased to announce that PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases and PLOS Pathogens will be exhibiting at the XVIII International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria Conference in Rio de Janeiro Sept. 23-27, 2012.

This will be our first time exhibiting in South America and we are very much looking forward to meeting members of our research communities. Please stop by and visit us at Booth 7 where you can meet Marina Kukso and Cory Mann, the Publications Managers of PLOS NTDs and PLOS Pathogens, along with myself (Liz Flavall). It’s a great opportunity to find out more about Open Access and the PLOS Publications. You’ll also have the chance to pick up either a PLOS NTDs or PLOS Pathogens T-Shirt (while stocks last!) along with other PLOS memorabilia.

Peter Hotez, the PLOS NTDs Editor-in-Chief, will be participating in a round-table session “What is the future role of academic journals in the research, control and prevention of tropical diseases?” on Thursday, Sept 27 from 9-11am in the Onix room. The discussion will cover the impact of changes in publishing on tropical medicine journals and how journals can take advantage of these changes to contribute more effectively to the research communities they serve. We’ll be in the audience and we encourage others to attend – it should be an interesting discussion.

If you can’t make it to the booth you can also follow us on Twitter. We’ll be tweeting from @plosntds and @plospathogens using the #ICTMM hashtag.
