PLOS BLOGS The Official PLOS Blog

PLoS ONE on the radio

I wish I had time to blog about the last couple of days. But launching a journal is only the beginning and so I’m head down at the moment worrying about the papers to be published next week, and the week after that, and the week after that. Instead I’ll point you to come media coverage that might interest you.

The PLoS ONE launch has been amazing and we have had lots of great feedback, I’ll try and produce a roundup of the nice (and critical) things that are being said in the blogosphere soon. There has also been some radio coverage of all things PLoS ONE.

First up the Today program, just about the most influential radio news program in the UK, had two pieces about PLoS ONE yesterday. The first, at about 7:20, was a discussion between Phil Campbell and me about the pros, cons and future of open peer review. You can listen to it for a week or so through their website.

Just over an hour later they ran a piece about a paper in the PLoS ONE, “A Virtual Reprise of the Stanley Milgram Obedience Experiments” by Mel Slater and colleagues at University College London. Again the piece is currently available on the BBC website.

Showing our international reach Germany’s WDR5 radio broadcast a piece later in the day about the launch of PLoS ONE including an interview with me (overdubbed in German). Hemai Parthasarathy, whose German is far better than mine tells me they are very complimentary. I only have a transcript for this at the moment.

Now back to the day job.
