Alejandra has a degree in Molecular Biology from Edinburgh University where she also obtained her PhD on the mechanism of mRNA localisation in Drosophila. Alejandra moved south to the University of Cambridge to work on the role of miRNAs in C. elegans. Before joining PLOS in 2013, she worked as an editor for EMBO Reports in Heidelberg. Alejandra is currently a Senior Editor Team Manager at PLOS ONE.
