We are thrilled to announce the recipient of the PLOS ONE Early Career Travel Award in the Physical Sciences for the Computer Science & Engineering category. Dr. Christopher Rackauckas is an Assistant Specialist in the Department of Mathematics, at University of California, Irvine and Senior Research Assistant at University of Maryland in Baltimore. He will also be an Applied Mathematics Instructor at MIT next year.

This award supported his travel to London to attend the JuliaCon2018 meeting (August 7 – 11) where he presented sessions on Solving Partial Differential Equations with Julia. You can view his sessions in the videos below:

“I am the lead developer of the JuliaDiffEq open source organization. This organization maintains the popular DifferentialEquations.jl software suite and utilizes an open benchmarking suite to compare all of the existing software implementations. Thus, while a useful source for scientific researchers to solve their own equations, the organization as a whole also serves as a research platform for the advancement of methods research.”

Thank you to all community members who submitted applications!

PLOS ONE accepts papers in all areas of Computer Science & Engineering.
