Thank you to all community members who submitted applications!

We are delighted to announce the first recipient of the PLOS ONE Early Career Travel Award in the Physical Sciences. Chintan Parmar, Research Fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School (DFCI-BWH-HMS) in Boston, has won the award in the Physics & Astronomy category.

Congratulations to Chintan who received his PhD in 2017 from Maastricht University/Indian Statistical Institute/DFCI-BWH-HMS.

This award will support his travel to Nashville to attend the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) meeting (July 29–August 2) where he will be presenting a session on Deep Learning with Medical Images.

“I am a strong believer in open and reproducible science. Majority of my scientific contributions have been published as open access articles. Moreover, most of my research involved extensive applications of open source tools and pipelines. My colleagues and I are actively involved in developing different tools and repositories like Pyradiomics and Modelhub promoting open and reproducible AI research in medical imaging.” – Chintan Parmar

Dr. Parmar is widely published, with research featured in many journals including PLOS ONE. His PLOS ONE articles have received more than 20,000 views and 100 citations to date:
