PLOS BLOGS Your Say

About This Blog

Your Say is the site on PLOS BLOGS Network for guest posts from scientists and science writers who wish to express individual points of view on issues in science, medicine and scholarly publishing.  We encourage voices and perspectives from any scientific discipline.

This space is dedicated to you: You can post about your research, write a book review or a personal essay, interview a thought leader or colleague. We encourage formats and ideas that don’t quite fit elsewhere on our network — an acknowledgment that effective science communication can (and should) take many forms.

Your Say posts are lightly edited, if at all, and solely represent the views of their authors — not those of PLOS. We won’t accept posts that are overtly political or marketing in nature

If you would like to contribute to Your Say, please email your submission PLOS at: customercare@plos.org. Please include a one-sentence description of yourself (e.g.  A guest post from Talia Young, Ph.D., David H. Smith Conservation Postdoctoral Fellow, Princeton University & Director of Fishadelphia)

To maximize impact of your blog we highly recommend the following guidelines:

  • Posts should be no more than 750 words
  • Consider a bold header image (690X320)
  • Think about a catchy headline, something counter-intuitive or direct works best
  • Back up strong opinions with evidence
  • The blog should be understandable to lay readers not steeped with a background in science
  • Don’t assume prior knowledge from the reader, hence no acronyms
  • Images, graphs and video can help tell your story
