More on Practice Babies; ScienceOnline 2011

Wow. You guys really like practice babies. Your interest in my post on the infants cared for by gaggles of college girls has blown me away. It’s good to know that when I have my first kid, there are plenty of you out there willing to take turns raising her.

In all seriousness, I’ve been amazed at the response. And I just wanted to provide a tiny update: Last week, Lisa Grunwald–the author of The Irresistible Henry House, which is the book that introduced me to practice babies in the first place–gave an interview on NPR’s All Things Considered. To hear more about how she happened upon this bizarre historical phenomenon, tune in here.

One other order of business: I’m heading down to Durham for ScienceOnline later this week, so there probably won’t be any Small Wonders on Friday. I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule next week. I look forward to meeting many of you down in North Carolina and returning with many stories for those of you unable to attend.
