Tomorrow night: Virtually Speaking Science with Tom Levenson — Live on radio … and Second Life

Over the past twenty years, my work has brought me everywhere from behind the scenes at the Colbert Report to on-screen on The Daily Show. I’ve reported from locales ranging from Baghdad to Times Square. I’ve interviewed sitting presidents and World Series MVP’s.

But I’ve never visited Second Life…until now. Tomorrow night, I’ll be a guest on Virtually Speaking Science, which is aired simultaneously on BlogTalkRadio and is hosted by the Meta Institute for Computational Astrophysics (MICA) in the Large Auditorium in the sim named StellaNova. The host is the inexhaustible Thomas Levenson, who, in addition to being the author of Newton and the Counterfeiter and Einstein in Berlin (among other books), is the head of MIT’s Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies and the director of its Graduate Program in Science Writing. We’ll be talking about #SciWriteLabs, the perils of “bad science,” the intersection of science and civic life, and how to use new media tools to promote good journalism.

Terrestrial-based listeners can tune in tomorrow night, November 16, from 9-10pm Eastern Time, and you can call in with your questions at (646) 200-3440. Second-life aficionados — well, I’m assuming you already know what to do.  You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see me, lounging onstage…
