Be Heard: PLOS BLOGS Reader Survey

PLOS serves its authors and readers through its suite of journals, community sites, social media and network of over 20 blogs. Your opinion is now sought to help PLOS shape the future of The PLOS Blogs Network by taking part in the first ever PLOS BLOGS Reader Survey.

The survey takes no more than 10 to 15 minutes to complete, but will help guide the direction of PLOS BLOGS. Whether you’re a visitor to PLOS staff, community or independent blogs, we want to know your content preferences, satisfaction, use and reuse of blog material as well as which social media networks you value and would like to see PLOS use more actively to engage with you.

Even if you’re not a regular reader of PLOS BLOGS, you might want to know that the nearly 400 responses received to date indicate the top reasons for reading PLOS BLOGS are:

  • To keep up with current events in science
  • To stay on top of new research
  • To get scientific information not covered in traditional news media (or to check the accuracy of science news reported elsewhere)

Over 40% of survey respondents that are researchers said they would use a science blog to post a manuscript before its formal submission for publication and roughly 60% would use such a blog venue for posting a manuscript after formal acceptance.
