Three new articles published this week in PLOS Medicine:

David Levy and colleagues use the SimSmoke model to estimate the effect of Brazil’s recent stronger tobacco control policies on smoking prevalence and associated premature mortality, and the effect that additional policies may have.

Analyzing data from over 650,000 individuals, Steven Moore and colleagues report that greater amounts of leisure-time physical activity were associated with higher life expectancy across a wide range of activity levels and body mass index groups.

David Hipgrave and colleagues discuss health system reform in China and argue that parallel reforms in governance, financing, and accountability are also needed to ensure health equity.
