#eyesonsyria or how to get eyes on the unwatchable

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the news hurtling at us today – especially when we are all rather inured to a constant stream of ever more appalling news stories. How then did Amnesty – let’s face it, rarely the bearer of good news – manage to focus attention on what’s going on in Syria? Answer: the clever use of Twitter (via @NewsFromAmnesty), backed up by a snappy news report, with, behind it all, a definitive, horrific report of the type that  Amnesty has always excelled at entitled ‘I wanted to die’: Syria’s torture survivors speak out

In case you missed it, here’s how it panned out on Twitter over an hour or so with a  series of ever worsening tweets – oh, and don’t forget to read the report.
