In previous incarnations, she ran the Genetics Bioethics Group at the Hastings Center, served as a Senior Editor at Nature Biotechnology, and was Founding Editor of The Scientist. Powledge has been a full-time freelance science writer and editor for the past 20 years. She is on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Science Writers.
