New Perspectives In the Treatment of Diabetes

Below is a brief interview with Dr Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret of the Université de Montréal, discussing new potential medications for the treatment of diabetes.  Although Metformin works well, there are few good options when a second medication is needed.  He discusses new drugs that are being investigated, including those that work through GLP-1, and also those that actually increase glucose “leak” from the kidneys, which reduces blood sugar and also reduces body weight – very cool!  The video can be seen in both French and English, and was produced by Dr Paul Boisvert.
