“Reading is my Zen.”
That was my son Timothy, who is all of nine and absolutely loves reading. How that statement made me smile and smile!
That quote came at the end of his explanation of how reading took him away, making him think new things and washing away any anxious thoughts he might have. He just gets lost in it.
So, what does reading do for you? And do you have any favorite quotes about reading?

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog…it’s too dark to read.”
– Groucho Marx
Here is one from my friend Aradhana:
“My test of a good book is dreading to begin the last chapter.”
-Thomas Helm
The love of learning, the sequestered nooks, and all the sweet serenity of books. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“Turkmenbashi regarded himself as an accomplished writer–a clear sign of madness in anyone.”
–Paul Theroux, “The Golden Man,” New Yorker
