Introducing Roving Ambassadors… a glamorous title for a very simple concept. This is what we call supporters who go to conferences and volunteer to fly the PLOS ONE flag while they are there. Here’s how to get involved:
Presenting a Powerpoint? Please consider including a PLOS ONE slide–available from our Resources page.
Need PLOS ONE flyers? Please download or print from our Resources page.
If you would like additional materials, please email email@example.com with “PLOS ONE” in the Subject Line. Include the following information and give us at least 2 months notice. We’ll review your request and, if it’s a good fit for PLOS ONE, we’ll send you a t-shirt to wear, together with other promotional items (buttons, business cards, and decals as available).
- Event Name, URL, Start/End dates, approximate # of Attendees
- Mailing Address/Phone # (where you’d like items shipped). For Hotels, please also include your Arrival Date (eg., “Joe Smith–guest arriving 3/15/09″). If items should be sent to your institution, please include last date they can arrive before you depart.
- Your t-shirt size
Meet-ups…informal “get-togethers” for our authors, users, editorial board members or Facebook group members at a local watering hole. So far, we’ve held a couple of events in San Francisco at the Thirsty Bear.
Want to organize a PLOS ONE meet-up in your area? Please contact Liz Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org with your idea.
Open Access Week…co-organized by PLOS, SPARC, and Students for Free Culture plus others, the first international Open Access Day was held on October 13, 2008. It was a smashing success, with nearly 120 institutions from almost 30 countries participating in events promoting Open Access awareness. Due to popular demand, in 2009, we expanded to an entire week, held between October 19 and 23, allowing even more institutions worldwide to host events. Find out more about this event and get involved–if you would like for your institution to host an event, please send this info to your librarian.
