GLBIO/CCBC 2016 – Fostering Interdisciplinary Computational Biology Research

The 11th Great Lakes Bioinformatics Conference (GLBIO) is to be held jointly with the 1st Canadian Computational Biology Conference (CCBC) during May 16-19, 2016, in Toronto, Canada, on the University of Toronto Campus. It is the one of the major bioinformatics conferences organized by the Great Lakes Bioinformatics Consortium under the supervision and management of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) – the premier society for computational biology in the world. The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of latest research findings and methodological novelties in computational biology and bioinformatics. An important goal for the conference is to foster long-term collaborative relationships and networking opportunities across these interdisciplinary domains. The program will include invited keynote speakers, solicited oral presentations, tutorials, and poster presentations. The current conference program comprising of several keynote speakers including Aled Edwards, Christina Leslie, Elizabeth Edwards, Jane Carlton, Jennifer Gardy, Mathieu Blanchette, Steven Jones and Timothy Hughes is available at http://www.iscb.org/glbioccbc2016.

Scientists and professionals working in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology on all aspects of (including but not limited to) Genomics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, and Intelligent Computing are invited to submit high- quality original research full length papers or abstracts for presentation at GLBIO/CCBC 2016. Accepted full- length papers will be considered for publication in PLOS ONE (see details below).

Submission instructions

Initial full-length paper submissions to GLBIO/CCBC 2016 should follow PLOS ONE guidelines. Authors of all full- length papers that are accepted for oral talks at the conference will be considered for publication in a PLOS Collection devoted to the conference proceedings. Authors who decide to proceed with this option are expected to address the reviewers’ comments received during the GLBIO/CCBC review process prior to submission to PLOS ONE. Then, such revised papers will be subject to additional evaluation by one of the journal’s Academic Editors. The GLBIO/CCBC 2016 Proceedings Chairs may be consulted where required. Whenever possible, the same reviewers that have participated in the GLBIO/CCBC review process will be asked to also participate in the PLOS ONE review process. Authors are responsible for any Article Processing Charges (APC) or expenses in regards to the publication in the PLOS Collection.
Authors are also welcome to submit abstracts for oral presentation as well as for the poster submission tracks. Details and deadlines are available from the conference website links provided above.

Sarath Chandra Janga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biohealth Informatics, School of Informatics and Computing, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. He is also a member of the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Indiana University’s School of Medicine.

Tijana Milenkovic is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of the Notre Dame’s ECK Institute for Global Health and Interdisciplinary Center for Network Science and Applications (iCeNSA).
