Last week, I started a series of discussions over at my blog, The Panic Virus, under the rubric SciWriteLabs. The idea was to harness some of the excitement and energy that had sprung up around recent discussions about science journalism and writing to create a space that would serve as an ongoing resource for people in the field.
My thinking about the SciWriteLabs project has been both informed and inspired by my work with the students at MIT’s Graduate Program in Science Writing. The program teamed up with PLoS on this site, which will feature work not only by current SciWrite students and SciWrite alums but also by other people involved in the larger MIT Science Writing community, a community which also includes the Knight Science Journalism Fellows and the folks at MIT’s Program in Science, Technology, and Society.
